Fashion designers in the country expect to raise some 240m/- to build houses for orphans living with HIV/AIDS in Dar es Salaam under a special campaign dubbed “Corporate Cares”.
A renowned fashion designer who doubles as the chairperson of the Tanzania Mitindo House (TMH) Khadija Mwanamboka said during the first anniversary of the organization in Dar es Salaam over the weekend that the move is meant to support vulnerable children particularly those affected with HIV/AIDS.
Some 115m/- was realized during the function. The projected amount is for construction of four houses, with Vodacom Tanzania having pledged to build one house which will accommodate 50 children.
Part of the amount was raised through auction of items such as T-shirts, necklaces and collections of renowned fashion designer Asia Idarous. A fashion show coloured the function which saw invited guests sharing dinner with orphans under Tanzania Mitindo House care.
