A passenger train en route to up-country regions was involved in an accident when entering Ruvu station on Tuesday evening but nobody was injured. A press statement issued yesterday by the Tanzania Railway Ltd. said two locomotives capsized and another was partially affected as it derailed.
The fateful train returned back to Dar es Salaam and was in a good mechanical condition to resume its upcountry journey. The management paid each passenger some money for breakfast as they waited to travel.
Meanwhile, a team of engineers was dispatched to the scene of accident to clear the damage and its aftermath on rail track for the service to resume. The management was hoping to fix the problem for the railway service to resume by yesterday evening. The company is run by an Indian company after the government privatised its operations.
