  • Tanzania would unveil the newest window into African Fashion as it marks the launch of its first ever Swahili Fashion Week set to start from November 5 at the Diamond Jubilee Hall in Dar es Salaam. Roundtrip Tanzania, Event Director Prashant Powar said the event is expected to be an electric mix of Swahili culture ensconced with chic style.

“Initiating a dynamic and promising platform for the fashion industry in Tanzania, the Swahili Fashion Week is a coming together of talented designers from across the country under one stand to showcase their unique and truly African creations. This is not only a potential point for existing designers but also an opportune moment for upcoming aspiring designers in the country,” he said.

He said, not only will the event be at par with globally acclaimed fashion weeks but for the first time M Net - Face of Africa Models 2008 will strut the ramp ride in Dar es Salaam celebrating the spirit of the Swahili Fashion week truly unveiling what makes Africa beautiful. Mustafa Hassanali, a renowned household name in Tanzanian Fashion has played a pivotal role in originating this fashion week.

Hassanali said: “As one of the premier designers in the country it has always been my vision not only to further my creations in Tanzanian Fashion but also to promote the industry as a whole. Tanzania has so many established and budding talented designers that the Swahili Fashion week was a much needed platform to enhance African Fashion eventually placing it on the global map.”
